The Lord is my light and my salvation—
    whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid? (Psalm 27)

While Jesus was in Bethany in the home of Simon the Leper, a woman came to him with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, which she poured on his head as he was reclining at the table.
When the disciples saw this, they were indignant. “Why this waste?” they asked. “This perfume could have been sold at a high price and the money given to the poor.”
10 Aware of this, Jesus said to them, “Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful thing to me. 11 The poor you will always have with you,[a] but you will not always have me. 12 When she poured this perfume on my body, she did it to prepare me for burial. 13 Truly I tell you, wherever this gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her.” (Matthew 26:6-13New International Version (NIV))

19 We love because he first loved us. 20 Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. 21 And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.( 1 John 4:19-21New International Version (NIV))

[a]How deserted lies the city,
    once so full of people!
How like a widow is she,
who once was great among the nations!
She who was queen among the provinces
has now become a slave. (Lamentations 1:1New International Version (NIV))

. 20 In the spring, at the time when kings go off to war, Joab led out the armed forces. He laid waste the land of the Ammonites and went to Rabbah and besieged it, but David remained in Jerusalem. Joab attacked Rabbah and left it in ruins (1 Chronicles 20:1New International Version (NIV))

12 The first woe is past; two other woes are yet to come. (Revelation 9:12New International Version (NIV)).

21 The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen. (Revelation 22:21New International Version (NIV))
